Canley Garden Cemetery
Coventry's Canley Garden Cemetery and Crematorium is located to the south-west of the city, just off the Kenpas Highway (A45). Although the address and postcode is given as Cannon Hill Road, there are two entrances. The main entrance being in Cannon Hill Road and a second in Charter Avenue.
Parking is located on the right-hand side just in from the main gates from Charter Avenue and on the left in Cannon Hill Road entrance. The Both chapels are located at the top of the drive on both entrances. The Canon Hill Road entrance is more impressive and beautifully laid-out.
Garden of Remembrance
Located just in the Garden of Remembrance stands a memorial to 18 servicemen who gave their lives during the Second World War.
The 18 servicemen served in the Royal Air Force (10 Sqdn and 630 Sqdn), the Army (three from the Royal Warwickshire Regiment), the Royal Navy, Merchant Navy and the Medical Corp.
Their ages ranged from 19 to 63 with the majority being in the twenties and thirties when they died.
The two youngest servicemen were Oliver Gibbs who served in the Royal Army Medical Corp., and died at just 19. Wyndham Price serving in the Royal Navy was also just 19.
Arthur McNeil was a Lieutenant-Commander serving on HMS Shrapnel was 63 when he died in June 1945.
