Tithe Green Natural Burial Markfield

Tithe Green Natural Burial Markfield is a beautiful, restful and peaceful natural burial ground set in the rural heart of Leicestershire. It is owned, and run by the same family (husband and wife James and Helena) as well as their great team. Markfield is one of three Natural Burial grounds they own and run. The others being: Tithe Green Oxton (Calverton, Nottingham), and Tithe Green Ketton (Ketton, Stamford).

James's late grandmother founded the original site at Tithe Green Oxton.  It was one of the earliest natural burial grounds in the country created in 1999. Tithe Green Natural Burial in Leicestershire as well as the other two,  are curated to be a mix of natural woodlands all set in wildflower meadows as nature intended.

As well Markfield and the other are beautiful natural burial grounds, they are all comforting places, celebrating nature and the cycle of the natural world.

People are encouraged to visit, wander around and take in the beauty and tranquillity of the natural burial grounds.

The right to burial is for 99-years per plot. The long term plan is that when each of their Natural Burial site are designated as 'full', the grounds will continue to kept as woodland funded by either a NGO or the Sherbrooke family's own trust.  This will ensure there is continuity and the longevity of the sites - back to nature.

The scattering of ashes is not permitted. Planting on graves is permitted, however to keep the grounds natural, wild and looking like a wild meadow, they must be chosen by an approved list of wild species.
