Sands (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society)
Sands' aim and goal is to reduce the number of babies dying in the UK by providing care and support to anyone affected by the death of a baby. They work in partnership with healthcare professionals to make sure any, and all bereaved parents as well as families, receive and get the best possible care they can. They promote any and all improvements in practice as well as fund research to aid the reduction of baby deaths.

In 1978 Sands was founded by a small number of bereaved parents devastated by the loss of their babies. At that time there was a total lack of understanding, acknowledgement and any sort of recognition of the significance and the impact of the loss of their baby. Since then the Society / charity has gone from strength to strength but still admits there is lot to do.
