Cruse

Their vision, mission and values are summed up on their website as:

"A world where everyone grieving is supported, respected and understood."

The full text and with explanation can be seen on their website - Cruse

On 5th October 1959, The Cruse charity was first registered under the name, “Cruse Clubs Counselling Service for Widows and their Families”. The charity has developed and evolved over the years widening its scope for help to include now: widowers, children and of course bereaved persons.  Today they have over 4,000 dedicated volunteers, a helpline that each year talks, chats and helps over 33,000 people and families.

A New name - same goals

In 2021 the name changed to Cruse Bereavement Support. This support is carried out in a number of ways: Through their national helpline (0808 808 1677), live chat, group chat, zoom meetings, over the telephone and one-to-one personal support. Their goal in adopting so many methods of communication is to ensure everyone grieving obtains the real help  they need, but more specifically, in a way that they want, need and works for them at their time of bereavement.

Campaigning

Just about everyone grieves in their particular way, time and circumstance.  However those grieving not always have a voice or are able to be heard. Cruse provides campaigning strategies for people and families to be heard. Their aim and goal is to change how 'grieving people are treated.' This is performed in a number of ways, including (but not limited to) campaigning for better business standards throughout in order to improve bereavement laws.

Grief and grieving., generally is not really appreciated or understood by people not going through it. Cruse aim and goal is to educate, show and empower society in the wiser sense of the meaning, to make sure all bereaved people, families and individuals are treated with respect and compassion.

Supporting Cruse is one step in the direction of helping and supporting people through a tough and difficult time.
